Women are more likely to injure their feet and legs while men\u2019s injuries are more common in the trunk and hand. Men tend to end up with sprains and strains and women with fractures. People very often get injured by dropping weights on themselves, crushing a body part between weights or\u00a0hitting\u00a0themselves with the weight. Overexertion, muscle pulls and loss of balance account for the rest.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Here are the most common injuries that tend to occur during weight training:-<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Tendinitis &#8211; Inflammation of a tendon<br \/>\nStrain &#8211; Muscle tendon unit getting stretched or torn<br \/>\nSprain &#8211; Ligaments getting stretched and possibly torn<br \/>\nBursitis &#8211; Inflammation or irritation of the bursa (a sac filled with lubricating fluid located between muscles, bones tendons and tissues)<br \/>\nAvulsion &#8211; Complete tearing away of muscle from the bone or tendon<br \/>\nContusion &#8211; An injury in which the skin is not broken<br \/>\nFracture &#8211; Breaking\/ crack in the bone<\/p>\n<h2><strong>And here\u2019s what causes these injuries:-<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Incorrect technique<br \/>\nToo much weight<br \/>\nBad spotting<br \/>\nTraining too often<br \/>\nNo stretching prior and post workouts<br \/>\nInadequate warm up<br \/>\nPoor training<br \/>\nPoor concentration<br \/>\nLack of nutrition<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-63385 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.adityabirlacapital.com\/healthinsurance\/active-together\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/10-shutterstock_246930913.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 800px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 800\/800;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Many weight lifting injuries can be managed with simple first aid. Just remember the acronym\u00a0\u2018R.I.C.E\u2019<br \/>\n<strong>R<\/strong>.est\u00a0&#8211; Rest the affected area for at least 48 hours<br \/>\n<strong>I<\/strong>.ce Packs\u00a0&#8211; Keep ice packs over the area for 10-20 min every hour or two for at least 2-3 days<br \/>\n<strong>C<\/strong>.ompression\u00a0&#8211; An elastic compression wrap will help reduce the swelling<br \/>\n<strong>E<\/strong>.levation\u00a0&#8211; Raise the injured area above the level of your heart for 2- 3 hours a day<\/p>\n<p>If an injury is serious and the affected area does not\u00a0respond\u00a0to first aid measures then it\u2019s time to call a doctor. For a second degree injury an\u00a0NSAID\u00a0and aspirin will work and for third degree injuries surgery is required, that includes braces or casts.
