  • Step 4: From the drop-down menus, choose the appropriate "Category of Deductor" (e.g., company, trust) and the "State" where the entity is registered. You can choose from the following list: Central/State Government/Statutory Bodies/Autonomous Bodies/Local Authorities Companies/Firm/AOP/BOI/AJP/AOP (Trust) and Branches Individual/HUF Including Business.
  • Step 5: Enter the captcha code as it appears on screen.
  • Step 6 : Click on "Submit" to generate your results.

TAN Verification by Name

  • Step 1: To verify your TAN, start by visiting the official e-Filing website of the Income Tax Department and log in to the website with your User ID and password.
  • Step 2: Click on the 'Know TAN Details’ tab
  • Step 3: In the 'TAN Search' tab, choose the 'Name' option to perform TAN number search by name.
  • Step 4: From the drop-down menus, choose the appropriate "Category of Deductor" (e.g., company, trust) and the "State" where the entity is registered.
  • Step 5: Enter the complete name of the entity and a valid mobile number.
  • Step 6: Once you've entered the search details, click "Continue." The system will send a one-time password (OTP) to the provided mobile number.
  • Step 7: Enter the received OTP in the designated field and click "Validate." If the information is correct, the portal will display the TAN details for the chosen deductor.

  • Step 1: To verify your TAN, start by visiting the official e-Filing website of the Income Tax Department and log in to the website with your User ID and password.
  • Step 2: Click on the 'Know TAN Details’ tab
  • Step 3: If you already have your TAN number, select the "TAN" option.
  • Step 4: You'll still need to choose the "Category of Deductor" and "State" (if applicable) from the dropdown menus.
  • Step 5: Then, Enter your TAN number and a valid mobile number.
  • Step 6: Once you've entered the search details, click "Continue." The system will send a one-time password (OTP) to the provided mobile number.
  • Step 7: Enter the received OTP in the designated field and click "Validate." If the information is correct, the portal will display the TAN details for the chosen deductor.

Please Note:

  • OTP will be valid for 15 minutes only.
  • You only get 3 attempts to enter the correct OTP.
  • The OTP expiry countdown timer will be displayed on your screen and you will get to know when your OTP expires.
  • On clicking Resend OTP, a new OTP will be generated and sent to your registered mobile number.
