Body Type Nutrition: Understanding The Different Body Types

Body Type Diet - Activ Together

A body type is not just the way your body looks, but also the way it responds to food and other physical and environmental changes. There are three main body types: Ectomorph, Mesomorph and Endomorph. By understanding your body type, you can find the best foods to eat for good health and wellbeing. While one body type might do well with one kind of food, another type might not respond so well. When a diet is tailor-made to suit your body type, nutrients are better absorbed, it is easier to lose weight, and you have more energy.

Understanding Each Body Type

Ectomorph:

This is a naturally thin body type. People with this body type don’t gain much weight no matter how much they eat.

Mesomorph:

This body type includes people of a medium build who gain and lose weight according to what they eat. Their weight mostly remains stable.

Endomorph:

The endomorph body type consists of people who tend to gain weight easily and have a hard time losing it.

Eating For Your Body Type

The Ectomorph Diet

People with the ectomorph body type might appear lucky because they don’t gain weight, but the disadvantage is that they might be too thin. To achieve a more moderate physique, ectomorphs are advised to focus on macronutrients like proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. Protein helps you to build muscle mass and can be obtained from eating pulses, dairy products like paneer and cheese, egg whites, and lean meats. Carbohydrates provide you with energy for working out and daily activities. Healthy sources of carbohydrates include whole wheat, brown rice and vegetables. Good fat sources include olive oil, ghee, and nuts. If you are an ectomorph, then it is advisable eat at intervals of every two hours to prevent sugar spikes from a high carb diet.

The Mesomorph Diet

People in this group find it a lot easier to maintain the ideal body weight than the other groups. Mesomorphs should eat a diet that has a moderate amount of carbohydrates with more protein, good fats, and plenty of vegetables. As a mesomorph, even if you gain extra weight, you can lose it quickly with the right diet and exercise. A well-balanced diet which includes all the necessary nutrients is the best for this group. If you belong to this group, then you should include an exercise routine during your day to keep your muscles toned and maintain an athletic physique. Three meals a day works well for this body type.

The Endomorph Diet

The endomorph body type should focus on eating a diet of moderate protein and fats. This group responds very well to eating lots of raw salads and cooked vegetables. Raw salads take longer to digest and make you feel full for longer. Cutting out all refined foods like bread, rice, pasta, and cakes helps you maintain a stable weight. Whole grains and seeds are a healthier carb option for endomorphs. Because people in this group take longer to digest their food, if you are an endomorph, you should try eating all your meals within an eight-hour period and give the body the rest of the day to process the nutrition.

These tips will help all body types stay fit and healthy.
