Empowering the Independent Woman: Achieving Goals And Breaking Barriers

Health Tips For Independent Working Women- Activ Living

Once dutifully playing the role of mother and wife, Indian women have evolved to encapsulate several other roles. Women are making a name for themselves as lawyers, doctors, engineers, programmers, biotechnologists and more. The role of women in society is changing as this section of the population assert themselves as a strong independent force.

Women’s contributions to the economy cannot be overlooked and their achievements are worthy of applause. However, in this drive to accomplish their goals, many women are neglecting their health. Working long hours, snacking on unhealthy foods, and dealing with high levels of stress can all be detrimental to health. What women need to do is to recognise that along with their professional goals, they also need to set health goals and commit to reaching those as well.

Health Goals For Busy Women

Women need to think of their health goals in terms of small steps that will benefit them in the long run. Here are a few things you can do daily for your wellbeing.

Meditate:

Meditation is a great stress-buster and doesn’t need a special class or equipment. The internet is full of free guided meditations which can be listened to at any time of the day. Just plugging in your earphones and meditating for ten minutes each day can bring down stress levels significantly.

Exercise:

When you already work long hours, dedicating time for a workout can be difficult. If going to the gym or taking a run every day is not possible then at least try to do some brisk walking whenever you can. Take a 15-minute walk during your lunch break or walk part of the way home so that you ensure that your body gets some amount of movement regularly. Even moderate exercise can help strengthen muscles and boost your immune system so that you don’t get sick too often.

Eat Right:

Mornings can be very busy and leave little time to prepare a healthy meal to carry to work. In this situation it can be difficult to stick to a healthy diet. What you can do is plan your meals on the weekends and prepare whatever you can in advance. Chopped vegetables when kept in a sealed glass jar with water will stay fresh for a few days in the fridge. Keep nuts and fruits handy for snacking and keep the number of at least one restaurant that provides healthy meals like nutritious salads.

Talk To A Friend:

Being healthy is not just about taking care of our physical fitness. To be completely healthy you need to take care of your emotional needs as well. It is always a good idea to call a close friend and talk to them for a little while each day. If you can meet with friends after work or on the weekends, make the most of it and enjoy their company while you forget about your deadlines for a while.

These daily habits make a big difference in a women’s health and wellbeing. Aside from this, don’t ignore any signs of illness like fever or persistent pain and visit a doctor for the right diagnosis and treatment.
