How to Link Aadhar with NPS Account

The Government of India started the National Pension Scheme in 2004, or NPS
in short, that lets individuals accumulate a good corpus for their retirement. The scheme was reserved for government employees only at the time, but by 2009, it was opened up for everyone.The NPS scheme is managed by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). The PFRDA has advised all NPS subscribers to link their NPS account with their Aadhaar number. This article will guide you with the process of doing the same.

• First, you will need to login to your NPS account. Visit the NPS website and enter your Login details.
• Click on the ‘Update Details’ option, and then from the submenu, choose ‘Update Aadhaar/ Address Details’.
• On the ensuing page, select ‘Add/Update Aadhaar Number’
• Click on submit.
• Your Aadhaar credentials will be verified by an OTP that will be sent to your registered mobile number.
• Enter the OTP in the verification box and proceed.
• Onc your authentication is complete, the Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) linked to the NPS account, and the entered Aadhaar number will be linked.

If you’re opening a new NPS account, you can link your Aadhaar with your account at the time of opening. Use the following steps:

• Visit the NSDL e-NPS Portal by clicking here.
• Click on the Registration link.
• Enter your details, including your Aadhaar number and click on the Generate OTP button.
• Select the tick in the disclaimer and click ‘Proceed’
• You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP in the given box and click on ‘Continue’
• Fill the NPS form on the next page and make the payment. Your acknowledgement number will be generated.
• In the next step, enter your registration details to generate your PRAN.
• The NPS form must be e-signed by the applicant to complete the NPS subscription process.

• The name on your Aadhaar Card must exactly match the name in your Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN).
• All subscribers must complete the NPS-Aadhaar linking process even if they had submitted the Aadhaar during the subscription process.
• The NPS-Aadhaar linking process is authenticated using the mobile OTP method only.
• Your mobile number must be registered with your Aadhaar number in order to successfully complete the authentication process.
• Aadhar seeding for government employees is considered complete only when the respective nodal officer gives their final approval.
