Welcome to Health podcast by Aditya Birla Capital and the Habit coach, India's most loved Health and Wellness podcast.Hello and welcome to the Habit coach podcast - The bite sized podcast for quick and easy actionable habits. Remember, great habits create that awesome life. I am Ashtin Doctor, your Habit Coach.Today's fun factor of the day has to do with the word ‘Health’. Did you know that the origin of the word health means to be ‘Whole’. As you know I love learning about the origins of words, because they give you a peek into what they were originally meant to be. While researching the word ‘Health’ I was so confused because there were so many origins to the word. Some origins meant good omen, while others refer to healing. However, I like the idea that health as a concept means to the whole, unbroken, complete.Only if you Heal can you grow.Only if you Heal can you be healthy.Have you started healing yet?Today I want to talk about my understanding of health, wellness, fitness and all of that bundled together because these three words are so overused and very misunderstood. For me, being healthy is not about buying organic food. For me, wellness is not about exercising for an hour a day. For me, fitness is not about having that six pack. I view health as having the energy to come home after work to play with your child. I view wellness as having the energy to sit with a grieving friend and help them, to have the vitality and the energy to jump out of bed each morning filled with purpose, filled with energy. As your habit coach I want you to understand that it all boils down to this one thought - ENERGY.If you have the ability to create and maintain the energy, you have the ability to heal and you are on your way to being healthy. Have you ever noticed how weak you feel when you are in? That is because the body has taken and used the energy to recover from the illness. And similarly you will fall ill more if your body does not produce enough energy because the defence systems cant function. if you don't have the energy, the organs can't function. The next big hog of energy is our brain. It alone consumes 20% of the whole body is energy! So imagine if you are in an emotional loop obsessing about the past or the future, under stress, anxious. The body is forced to consume so much energy to deal with these ideas. But you also need energy to break out of this loop. Then my favourite example of low energy is when people get irritable, snappy and angry. They are just not good people to be around! Think of how people behave when they are hungry. Isnt hunger of form of low energy? Hence could it mean that all of those angry, irritable people around us are just like that because they have low energy? I truly believe that being low on energy sucks out the good in us. it makes us horrible people. Health and wellness is all about the energy that we create in our lives. That's all. Just start thinking ‘Energy’!I used to have an energy crash every day at 3 p.m. Sundays I would wake up low on energy, I would need energy drinks, chocolates to feel good and function. If you know what I mean and feel it, say ‘Yaah’! Each habit that I talk about on the Habit coach podcast is all about preserving or enhancing your energy. That's all, it's that simple. Because if you can manage your energy you have this health and wellness business in the bag!So your simple habit starts by going through your day and seeing, when you are losing your energy, when do you feel tired and low, when do you feel drained and when do you feel full of life and energy. Then choose the habits from this podcast to make you feel alive and vibrant. For some, it can be food related. For some it can be about stress or exercise.I want YOU to feel whole, to feel ‘life complete’. I want you to feel healed. let there be scares, that is fine. Scares tell us a story, they complete you.Thank you for listening. We will see you next week.
