Aadhaar Card is Not Received - What to Do?

If your Aadhaar card is not received but has been approved and generated, you can obtain your Aadhaar number and Aadhaar copy through these methods:

  • Via E-Aadhaar : You can get an e-Aadhaar (soft copy of the Aadhaar) in a PDF format from the UIDAI website. This electronic version is as valid as a physical Aadhaar card copy. You can also carry a printout of your e-Aadhaar.
  • Via SMS : You can get the Aadhaar details on your mobile phone via SMS as well.
  • Via mAadhar Application: mAadhaar is the official mobile application for Aadhaar. You can download your E-Aadhaar on the application and access it whenever you want.

Note : To ensure that your Aadhaar has been approved and generated, you need to check your Aadhaar status on theUIDAIwebsite. For this, you should have your enrolment ID and date/time of enrolment. These details can be found on the acknowledgement slip you would have received after submitting your documents at the Aadhaar enrolment centre.

How to Download E-Aadhaar?

Mentioned below are the steps you need to follow to download an e-Aadhaar if your Aadhaar card is not received:

  • Step 1 : Visit the UIDAI website.
  • Step 2 :Select 'Aadhaar number', or 'Enrolment ID'. You can retrieve these details from resident.uidai.gov.in if you do not have them.
  • Step 3: Fill the form with the required details, including your Aadhaar number/enrolment ID, captcha code, and click on'Send OTP'. You will receive an OTP (one time password) on your mobile number registered with Aadhaar.
  • Step 4: Choose if you want to receive a masked Aadhaar card and enter the OTP.
  • Step 5: Click on'Download Aadhaar' on the main page.
  • Step 6 : You will be directed to the 'E-Aadhaar' page from where you can download your e-Aadhaar.

Note : If you already know your Aadhaar number, you can choose 'Aadhaar' instead of 'Enrolment ID' at the top of the form. You will then need to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number instead of the 28-digit enrolment ID.

How to Get an Aadhaar Card Via SMS?

If your Aadhaar card is not received, you can get it through the SMS facility. To use the SMS facility, follow the steps given below:

  • Step 1: Visit the official Aadhaar website https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/retrieve-eid-uid .
  • Step 2: Enter the 28-digit enrolment number or the 12-digit Aadhaar number present on your acknowledgement slip along with your name, registered mobile number, and the captcha code.
  • Step 3: Click on the 'Send OTP' option.
  • Step 4: Enter the OTP that you receive on your registered mobile number and click the 'Submit' button.

Once the verification process is complete, you will receive your Aadhaar details through SMS on your mobile phone.

Getting Aadhaar Through ‘mAadhaar’ Mobile Application

You can also get your E-Aadhaar on the mAadhaar application. Follow the steps mentioned below after you have downloaded the application:

  • Step 1: Log into the mAadhaar application.
  • Step 2: If you have linked your mobile number to your Aadhaar, you can download your Aadhaar card.
  • Step 3: Enter your registered mobile number and click on ‘Generate OTP’. You will receive an OTP. Enter it and click on ‘Verify’.
  • Step 4: Click on ‘Download Aadhaar’, enter your Aadhaar password and click on ‘Submit’.
  • Step 5: Your E-Aadhaar will be downloaded and you can add up to three Aadhaar profiles on one device.

When To Reapply for an Aadhaar Card?

If your Aadhaar card is not received for any of the following reasons, you can reapply for it if:

  • You applied for the Aadhaar card before 1 April 2012.
  • The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) rejected your application.
