How to Complete New Bike Registration

Carrying out a new bike registration is a simple process. Following are the ways to get your new vehicle registration number:

  • Through the Vehicle Dealer: When you buy a new bike or car from a dealer, the showroom will deliver the vehicle only after registration. The dealer will complete the registration process after you provide the required details and documents. The dealer may also levy a service charge for the same.
  • By Yourself: A new bike registration by yourself requires you to visit the RTO and submit the application and required documents. You are also needed to pay a fee and produce the vehicle for inspection.

Process for New Bike Registration

Outlined below is the process for new bike registration at the RTO:

  • Step 1: Visit the RTO with your new vehicle.
  • Step 2: Submit the duly filled application forms and all relevant documents. The list of documents is mentioned below.
  • Step 3: The RTO officials will verify your details and documents.
  • Step 4 : Pay the registration fees and road tax at the fee collection counter.
  • Step 5: The RTO inspector will thoroughly inspect your new vehicle.
  • Step 6: After that, the vehicle data (make/model, fuel type, emission standard, seating capacity, engine capacity, etc.) will be uploaded to the central database.
  • Step 7: The RTO superintendent will verify the uploaded vehicle data and the ARTO (Assistant Regional Transport Officer) will approve the vehicle registration.
  • Step 8: Post approval, the RTO will generate the RC (registration certificate) smart card.

Documents Required for New Bike Registration

You will need to provide the following documents at the RTO for your two wheeler registration:

  • Address proof (Aadhaar card, voter ID card, passport)
  • Proof of identity (driving licence, voter ID, Aadhaar card)
  • PAN card (Form 60 in the absence of PAN card)
  • Proof of age (birth certificate, Aadhaar card, driving licence)
  • Chassis and engine number print
  • Vehicle purchase invoice provided by the manufacturer and dealer
  • Passport-sized photographs
