I’ve been a part of the Aditya Birla Group ecosystem for quite some time, and have experienced a whole gamut of businesses within the Group. I was selected during my college campus placements for a role in Pantaloons, and I’ve never looked back ever since. With the intensive retail experience I gathered at Pantaloons, in 2011 I received an opportunity to join the Aditya Birla Business Review Council (BRC) which falls under the Aditya Birla Management Corporation Pvt. Ltd. At the time, we were expanding our supermarket business More and our fashion brand Madura Garments, and I got a phenomenal opportunity to implement my expertise while also learning on-the-go. The role by virtue of its nature combined with the influence of great leaders, taught me extremely important lessons very early on in my career – both in terms of skill-building and in the context of personal development.
Within the BRC itself, I first entered the financial services realm when I was assigned the Broking Insurance business to focus on, apart from other business lines across the larger organisation. Considering that the objective of the BRC is to review and assess businesses, I got a lot of avenues to learn and absorb new things about different aspects of the Group as a whole.
My first role within Aditya Birla Capital was when I joined the health insurance business in 2015-2016. This was when we were just foraying into the health insurance industry. What drew me to the company was the fact that it was so purpose-driven. It’s definitely not just another health insurance company, but one that stands out with a firm belief in our customers’ health. Being part of the team that has built this ethos is an honour in itself. As founding members, it was up to us to set the tone for the business, and it is extremely fulfilling that we are one of the most trusted health insurance companies in the country. Because together, we are driven by heart.
From tie-ups with health-food brands, to imagining how our Multiply Wellness app would shape up while dabbling in digital, ops, marketing and so much more – every time I have reached a certain point, my leaders have identified greater potential and I have been able to consistently scale newer heights. In fact, if I look back at my journey, I have assumed almost every role in the digital function here.
Across assignments, I have experienced continuous support from managers and peers alike. I have been encouraged to pursue the kind of work that I enjoy and excel in, even if it entailed a complete shift from my role at the time.
As someone who wants to make things happen, I believe that ABC creates the ideal environment for people like me to thrive – I have learnt to raise the bar at every juncture, always chasing excellence alongside brilliant teams and inspirational leaders.
