For the last 20 years, my career has largely been about building businesses at the intersection of financial services and technology. When I joined Aditya Birla Capital, I was entrusted with building platforms to expand our digital engagement with customers and create meaningful access to financial solutions.

Udyog Plus emerged from that mandate. The goal was to build an ecosystem that could support India's MSMEs in a way that was easy to use, accessible, and in line with the realities of how these companies work, rather than just launching another digital platform.

One of the most valuable lessons from the experience has been that scale is rarely a function of technology alone. Technology may enable access, efficiency and speed, but enduring adoption comes from solving a genuine customer problem and remaining attentive to customer behaviour long after a product has been launched.

The platform we have today is quite different from what we initially envisioned. As we engaged with customers, tested our assumptions, and refined our approach, several aspects evolved. While traditional growth routes may seem appealing in the short term, staying focused required conviction, particularly with the goal of building a digital-first model that can scale sustainably over time.
I've also learned that in complex situations, no single person holds all the answers. What matters is bringing the right people together, staying open to different perspectives, and keeping the momentum going even when outcomes are still taking shape.

If I were to condense this journey into a few lessons, they would be these: stay close to the customer, remain open to learning, and never underestimate the power of collective effort.

No initiative succeeds on individual effort alone. True success comes from people combining their strengths, perspectives, and experiences to deliver a shared outcome. That spirit has shaped my experience at Aditya Birla Capital and continues to guide how we #BuildAsOne.
